During the summer Tina and I were comparing diaries, as one does, and discovered that August was not just possible but a genuine opportunity which we could and should both seize. I thought it might be nice to get a whole bunch of us girls, and who knows some boys as well, for a party at Ziggy's. Well I chatted with lots of people, and they all said yes, but as these things happen the weekend drew nearer the more and more girls and guys fell by the wayside, until there was just Tina and myself. I don't blame the other girls we all know how difficult it can be! |

Tina and I agreed that we should meet at her place, and eat in DC before we went to Ziggy's. We had both gained recommendations for a club called Chaos on 17th Street. Girls, all I'll say is that if you want to look your best for a date, like Tina does here, then leave lots and lots of time! I didn't and I was so late I would have been surprised if Tina hadn't slammed the door in my face! |

She didn't slam the door in my face and for that I am eternally grateful, as we have become firm and fast friends; as you can no doubt tell. |

We went of a number of times in August, and yes we went back to Chaos, because the waiters are really quite cute. |

What a wonderful time we had. I can say that Chaos is terrific, being on 17th Street it is very gay and TG friendly so as the Aussies would say "no worries there!". But also the whole 17th Street area is a nice bohemian locality in DC and Chaos itself is a very pleasantly appointed restaurant with very good staff, oh and if that wasn't enough the food is really quite exceptional. Although Tina and myself watch our weight, we really made the most of the meal. Following the meal it was of to Ziggy's to strut our funky stuff. All in all it was a wonderfully memorable experience and our friendship was such that we were determined to do it again as soon as possible. We went for second time later to Chaos and again to Ziggy's. |

Then Nicki had one of her rare good ideas, what about going shopping one evening? After all Macy's were having on eof their regular sales, and with bonus discount coupons in the papers this was an offer not to be missed. Tina was game, even if this was an entirely new experience for both her and Nicki. We arrived and parked in Macy's car park as the sun was going down, and sat in the car for a few moments until Nicki said "Let's do it!" We opened the doors locked the car and never looked back. Honestly I don't think Tina or Nicki have looked back since that time. It was quite a watershed for both of us. The first time for both of us in the real world shopping as women together, and no one even batting an eyelid at either of us. You cannot imagine the boost to your confidence an experience like this gives you. I can never thank Tina enough for taking me to Macy's, agreeing to come with me and being by my side when we "Did it!" Oh and by-the-by we didn’t stop there that night. We were both so exhilarated that we went on to a local restaurant and watering hole with the rest of the "normal" general public for dinner. What a kick we both got from being called "Ma'am". This was a unique experience and the memories of that evening I know we will both cherish. I know it is a little strange and bizarre to say this, but in the end I think we were both disappointed that no one "read us". Do other TG girls feel like that at all? |
